Introducing the English Radical Alliance
Thank you for visiting our website. We hope after viewing our site you will agree that the English Radical Alliance offers a radical but non extremist alternative to the other political parties.
The English Radical Alliance (ERA) was founded in July 2009, and became politically active in South Devon in January 2010. Our creation was largely a result of the appalling mismanagement of England by successive British governments. Over recent years we have seen rising crime rates, increased taxation, rising bills, mass immigration, lowering education standards, and an inefficient health service. Our professions such as the police service, medical, teaching, and fire fighting, have been devalued. Our green and pleasant land is being eroded to build housing to cope with the government's mass immigration policies. Our civil liberties are being handed over to the politicians in Brussels, and our armed forces are despatched to fight a war in Afghanistan that has no relevance to England. Our public services are getting worse by the day, with massive cutbacks and job losses, while the money that should be used to improve retain services and jobs is given away to others. This is the reality of life for the people of England in early 21st century Britain.
You are probably asking yourself the same questions as we did. "What can we do about it? How can we change things? Surely there is more I can do than just sit here ranting at the television?" It was in response to such questions that the English Radical Alliance was formed. We want to see the creation of a modern, independent English nation state that puts the interests of its citizens first. This means that we have to govern ourselves in order to effect the changes that are required to repair the damage brought on by the policies of successive British governments and their EU colleagues. It is only by having control of our own affairs can we hope to rebuild our nation.
Our party will restore traditional English freedoms and liberties to its citizens. We want to see an England that has decentralised government with local people making local decisions. We want to create a highly skilled and educated workforce and to protect English jobs and the English economy from unfair foreign competition. We want to preserve our green and pleasant land and create an England that is an environmental world leader. We want an England that is crime free, with Police officers carrying out police work not paperwork! We want an England that leads the world in public services and not a world leader in creating redundancies and slashing services. We want an England that our people can once again be proud of and a country that is fit to live in. All these things can only be achieved by a government that has the best interests of its people at heart, and one that can unify the nation. They can only be acheived by shunning the failed systems of Capitalism and Socialism and implementing a third system, that of Distributism.
The English Radical Alliance firmly believes in English independence, not only from the EU but from other organisations and alliances (such as the UK and NATO) that are a financial drain on our country and cost English lives in foreign military campaigns. Why independence? We believe it would be in England's best interests for many reasons. Firstly, the taxpayers of England are spending billions upon billions subsidising organisations like the EU and the other home nations of the UK. This money would be better spent on improving our own public services and investing in our economy to safeguard jobs in England. Secondly, it would bring a democratisation of our present parliamentary system which currently allows laws to be made for England by people who are not democratically accountable to the people of England. Thirdly, government organisations such as the MoD, the Royal Mint and the DVLA would relocate to English towns and cities creating tens of thousands of jobs, not only through these institutions, but also the support services. Last but not least the lives of our armed forces personnel would not be lost fighting wars that have no concern to the people of England.
Locally South Devon ERA aims to be at the forefront of issues effecting the people in the constituenceis of Torbay, Totnes and Newton Abbot. Whether it is regenerating our town centres, fighting to retain local services, making a stance against crime and anti social behaviour, providing affordable homes for local people, supporting our farmers and fisherman or protecting the environment, South Devon ERA want to be there fighting for the rights of young and old alike in order to create a free, fair society.
